Calgary Walk and Talk

  • Quarry Park Library 108 Quarry Park Road Calgary, AB, T2C 5R1 Canada (map)

Join us on Saturday May 25 in south Calgary for a Walk and Talk! Meet at 10am at the Quarry Park Library (attached to the Remington YMCA – go through the main doors and turn right – library is past the coffee shop). Tentatively Meeting Room 1; look for the ace flag on the table! The library is near several bus routes, and parking is available either on the street or at the YMCA.

Our talk will be about navigating a-spec identities within the broader queer community. This may include making space for ourselves within the community, the discourse around whether we’re “queer enough”, how queer organizations can better support us, etc.

Our walking route (tentative): along the canal to the Bow River pathway, then north towards Carburn Park. Depending on participant interest, we can loop back around at the gazebo (total walk about 5K) or continue on to Carburn Park and loop around at the lagoon (total walk about 7.5K). The majority of the route is flat with slight hills at the canal and pathway access points. There are park benches along the pathway and at the gazebo & Carburn Park for resting stops as required.

This is an open event, which means that everyone is welcome to attend, whether you’re a-spec yourself or just interested in walking & talking with us! Let us know if you have any questions (email: ABAcesandAros@gmail.com).

Note: this event is weather permitting and may be cancelled depending on rain, heat, or smoke/air quality. Cancellation notice will be shared on this webpage, on our social media channels, and on our Alberta A-spec Discord.
